Je-Shiuan Hsu

CELLO INSTRUCTOR

Taiwanese cellist Je-Shiuan Hsu appears as a solo, chamber, and orchestral musician across Asia and North America. Born in Taipei, she began cello at seven under her mother's guidance. She earned her bachelor’s degree in cello performance from National Taiwan Normal University, studying with Lingyi Ouyang, and later pursued her master's and doctoral degrees at the University of Texas at Austin under the mentorship of Bion Tsang.

An active orchestral player, Dr. Hsu is a former Assistant Principal Cellist of the Central Texas Philharmonic and has performed with the Waco Symphony Orchestra, Density512, YinQi Choral-Symphonic Orchestra, and Philharmonia Moments Musicaux.

 

She participated in the string quartet from 2016 to 2017, winning first place in the Tzu-Hsien Yang String Quartet Competition both years, as well as taking first place in the Taiwan National Music Competition. She has appeared frequently at the Chimei Museum (2018–2019) representing NTNU, and as a member of the cello ensemble Cello Rock was selected for New Taipei City’s Rising Stars series, performing at the New Taipei City Arts Center Concert Hall. She also engages in cross-genre collaborations, partnering for performances and commercial releases with Taiwanese pop singer Michelle Pan (Pan Yueh-Yun) and Chairman.
